Seeing some friends tweet about the challenges of coming out to family and deciding that i’m gonna do that this summer.
-
I mean, I’m totally out to my immediate family. (i think? i assume they all know?) but i have aunts and uncles who probs dunno i’m queer.
-
It never seemed that important to me because I’m not _that_ close to them, but the more I think about it, the more I think about this:
-
People are more tolerant of people with differences when they _know_ someone who is different from them.

I don’t know that fam super duper well, but iirc they’re p damn conservative, which often results in anti-queer bigotry. Maybe I can help.
